Grandma Naini

,

Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. Jeremiah 17:7

My grandma went to be with the Lord a few years ago, and I think of her and her unwavering faithfulness to her Lord ever so often. The year she passed away, I reflected deeply on her faithfully lived life and jotted down a few lines that capture the essence of her journey and testimony.

She was born to Hindu parents
And was raised under strict caste
She was married at the age of nine
To a man who was her first cousin
She served him at the table
And dared not to look him in the eye
She became alone at fourteen
When her husband embraced a new God
She was told to marry again
How can she? She was a faithful woman
She heard that her husband’s gone mad reading a book
And saw her husband thrown out of the village
She carried on with her life
And heard her husband returned after five years
She was asked if she’d go with him
And she readily accepted
She consummated her marriage and conceived a son
And in the meantime learnt about her husband’s God
She embraced this new God with all her heart
And gave her life to Him once and for all
She understood the power of the cross
And publicly proclaimed she loved this God
She was baptised as a pregnant woman
And her joy had no bounds
She conceived again and again
And her husband’s quiver was full with five children
She lost her youngest at the age of two
And grieved for years
She was blessed with grandchildren
And God soothed her heart
She gave herself to be a hand maiden in the hands of the Lord
And served faithfully along side her husband
She was selfless
She was self-sacrificial
And none would leave her home unfed
She would never grumble nor be impatient
And loved everyone the same
She suffered another blow when God took her daughter who left two tiny bubs
And mourned for years for the loss
She never complained nor sulked
And was comforted by the Almighty God
She was a prayer warrior
And saw miracles happen
She didn’t shy away from sharing the gospel
And brought many to the Lord
She became frail and became old
And wanted to leave and be with the Lord
She suffered much before her day came
And left her husband whom she knew for life
She is peaceful and resting at last
In the hands of her Saviour who was her all

Blessed so much to be called her granddaughter. She left a legacy. She is a woman who touched hundreds of lives and MINE.
